Dear Friends,
Welcome to the premiere edition of Paper Clips: News You Can Use From eWillow.com! I'm excited that you will be taking this journey with me as we open a new chapter in the world of papercrafting. We finally have an online place that serves not only to bring a sense of community to our creative world, but also adds an important element that has been missing: a place where we can offer our creations for sale to others.
For those of you who aren't papercrafters, I am thrilled that you no longer have to say that you don't give personalized greeting cards or make scrapbooks to preserve your memories because you don't have the time nor the creative know-how to make them. These wonderful items, and much more, are now available at your fingertips to buy and share with others.
Just think of the joy you and your loved ones will experience as you gather around to look at photos in a beautifully handmade scrapbook; a book that you can actually touch and record events in your very own handwriting. This means so much more than merely looking at digital photos on a computer monitor.
You will also be able to be a part of something that we all need...a return to sending personalized communications through the mail. Think of how exciting it would be to open the mailbox and actually see a handwritten envelope addressed to you! You can be a part of sharing that excitement with others when you purchase handmade cards from the lovely creations available for sale on eWillow.com!

Take Great Pictures
Make a D.I.Y. Photo Studio |
|
Create professional-looking photos using a Do-It-Yourself photo studio! This is a very easy and cost-effective way to create some eye-catching photos to help get your products noticed. You can help avoid the glare of flash and also help eliminate shadows. You will need a few basic supplies and about an hour of your time. You can probably make this studio for $10-$15!
SUPPLIES:
- 12" x 12" x 12" cardboard box (I bought mine at the UPS store)
- Razor knife
- Duct tape (I bought a pretty brown color to match the decorative paper I used to cover the back of the cardboard box)
- Tracing paper
- Black or white poster board for the backdrop that you will put inside the box
- Two light sources (one for the top and one for the front)
- Optional: plate stand to hold your projects for photographing
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut windows out of three sides of the box as pictured below (in this example the bottom of the box is completely cut off, but DON'T do that to your box. You will want to leave the bottom on the box so that you have a sturdy bottom for it.)
- Cover each window with tracing paper and adhere to the box with duct tape
- Optional: cover the back solid side of the box with decorative paper to make your box look "pretty!"
- Cut the poster board to fit the inside as shown below (I cut mine a little too short. You will want yours to be long enough cover the inside-back of the box and the bottom of the box)

I use a table "Ott I use a regular This photo is distorted,
Light" to light desk lamp to but it shows both lights
through light from the front
the top
IMPORTANT:
You may also want to invest in an economical photo-editing software program that will allow you to crop and adjust the color of your photographs. I use picnik.com. It is a little frustrating until you get used to it, but once you do, you'll love it!
